Long Description :

Hello.

Thank you for grabbing the sample pack.

The sample pack is Sitar, an indian classical instrument.
I primarily am a guitarist, but I learnt the sitar for my bachelors & masters degree, at Sangit Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, India.

For this sample pack, I have used the Raga Bhimpalasi, which somewhat adheres to the Dorian mode in western music.

If there are certain ragas/scales that you feel might be useful to you, and other musicians/producers, please do email me your thoughts.

The whole sample pack is in the Key of C, as my sitar is in that key.
You can pitch shift it, but remember, the more you pitch shift, the more you change the character of the timbre.

Also warping seems to mess with the tempos so I wouldn't recommend it (trust me I've played it at the tempos that I have said).
Weird things seems to happen when I warp the samples & it doesn't match the tempos. But hey if you like it, then you do you.

I have arranged it into 5 categories/subfolders.

1. One Shots - Recorded at 90bpm, but one shots can be used at any tempo. Remember to turn off the warp.
These can be used as basis to do more complex stuff. Use some kind of sampler plugin for it (Like simpler on Ableton).

2. Melodic Phrases in Free Time - Recorded at 90 bpm, but they are technically free time. In indian classical music, there is a section at the beginning called Alap, which is an improvisation in free time.
You can technically use it at any bpm, with or without warping. They would also work very nice as an intro.

3. Melodic Phrases in 100bpm - Recorded at 100 bpm (obviously). These are phrases from a traditional composition called Gat.
Using these at around 100bpm will be best.

4. Melodic Phrases in 110bpm - Another set of phrases from another Gat.

5. Melodic Phrases in 80bpm - And another set from another Gat. These can be used at 80bpm, but will also work very neat at 160bpm.

That's about it. Hope you enjoy this sample pack. If you've made something with it, please do share with me, and other communities.
You do not need to credit me, but let's be honest, it would be lovely if you did mention that you used this sample pack.
Also would be great if you could spread the word to other people who might find it useful/interesting.
I may make more in the future. So tell me what I did wrong, or what can be better.
