This is the November '22 Dump
I know we're deep in December already, but I was just mentally very occupied to put this together for the past couple or so weeks..
In November, I traveled back to Bangalore. In the 1 week before I traveled, I had a beautiful time in Darjeeling. especially knowing that I just had about a week left until I see the hills again (probably in April). We even made sushi . You can see several pictures from that time (in the bonus content section). Anyways me & my mom traveled backto Bangalore (dad came later in December). We had a beautiful time again. We didn't roam much, but enjoyed with good food, mostly cooked by mom. I cooked a few times, and a few times we also ordered from outside, or ate out at beautiful little south indian restaurant nearby.
I didn't do a lot of music, but the Ben-Hugo Song Challenge's prompt was to use some form of Reverse in our song, and a personal challenge to me was to write a pop song. I first did a rough idea in Raga Malkauns but didn't like it too much. Then I had another idea and asked Sumika to join me. I think I finally made a pop song, but Sumika disagrees. You can listen for yourself and decide.
Also there was Hugo's Patreon session, where I made a song of just a Matchstick lighting. It was from a prompt by Yoko Ono, which said something like Light a matchstick and watch it burn. So I lterally did that. I have filmed the footage too so there may be a video, but I don't know how I would present it.
The next prompt was from Hugo which said something like Astronauts have found milk on the moon. So I wrote a story for the lyrics. We had 30 minutes to make the song. I whipped out Casio SA-105 (not 100% sure about the model, wait let me check.. nah, it's SA-5).. its a toy keyboard that I've had since childhood. I'm not sure which year I got it, or whether I got it before my first guitar or later. I feel like it was before, but then why would I want a keyboard if I wasn't already into music (which I got into after getting my guitar). I remember me, Aditya (my cousin brother) & Anupama (cousin sister) once played Deusi, and she was playing that keyboard, and I was playing the guitar. This could have been anywhere between 2003 to 2008.. Anyways the song was made in 30 mins so I didn't have enough time to do good takes. It was completely unmixed, but I just did some mixing today (18 Dec), but didn't want to redo the takes or edit out the mistakes and stuff.I've included my lyrics to it, and my prompts during the workshop in the bonus content.
Finally one day Aditya came to visit us. He brought along his friends, and we had a small jam. Aditya is on my Fender SA-105 Acoustic Guitar, Brison was on my Dotara, Jaggu first played my Novation midi keyboard connected to Addictive Keys Grand Piano, but he wasn't audible over us, so midway through the jam, I gave him the Casio (the one mentioned above). I was playing slide on my old Fever Acoustic Guitar.
I guess that's about it.
Thank you for reading till the end. Hope you did like the music. It would mean a lot if you did buy the album and become like a temporary patron. There are 2 notes & 21 photos in the bonus content. About 10 of them will also go up on my instagram, but the others are exclusive to you who are supporting me, as my way of saying thanks & sharing a little extra bit of my life.
There are more stuff coming for December, so #stayuntuned
