Now this was a submission for a Magpie Pirates compilation album. It was plain and simple. Folk. That's it. We could do whatever we wanted.
So I decided to do a song I already had. This is a song I wrote sometime probably in 2017/18 maybe. The tune was made a few years later maybe. I don't know exactly.
The full compilation album is on Magpie Pirates bandcamp, so remember to check that out. Lots of good stuff there. I'll put the link.

Lyrics:
But I am just a songwriter with nothing to write about
What I had to stay I’ve said it all out
Should I just play guitar and make some gibberish shout
Am I still a songwriter even with nothing to write about
The wars ain’t never over, and never will they be
Poverty and sadness all around I see
Its all now so abundant, that I couldn’t care less
Even Zimmerman’s words wouldn’t sort the mess
The times they are-a always changing, and its always for the worse
Senators and congressmen are filling their purse
They don’t heed the call cuz no one dares criticize
A songwriter is confused on what not to criticize
All our education is done to make me a man
Get a job and good pay, a good life if I can
So I can educate my children and they can do the same
And if the cycle is broken, it is me to blame
The kings they made kingdoms and they kept their slaves
Then they paid them wages, to see that he behaves
The kingdom became countries, now their lands they could rent
Now the slaves are called citizens, and the kings are the government
People die here and there and so are animals too
What kind of society did we try to brew
All the troubled people would make such a big throng
I am just a songwriter singing a gibberish song..
