The next challenge was to make some music based on an image. Of course Ben Hugo & guest Firetoolz made some samples for us to use.

I took the image of a tapestry art by my friend Amphu Terangpi, of a praying mantis. I used a chord swell sample. Then took a tiny segment of another sample and processed it heavily to make it sound like sea-shore sounds. Over that I put some slide classical guitar. Then finally I decided to put some spoken word over it. I wrote some lyrics and just read it out.

The lone mantis
Happy as she seems
Jumps from a spot
To another on the grass

She is happy
She is a howdy
She is carefree
She is living

I look upon her
With utmost love in my heart
A sweetie & a cutie
She knows she is one

Her body full of colours
With eyes blue and red
And two brown antennas
She looks at me curiously

I love you
And its a love that asks back for none
Its a love that needs not to be loved back

I shall not try to catch you
Or imprison you in a jar
You can leave when you want
And I shall cherish the memories
